ADDITIONAL DRIVERS
With the prior consent of Europcar, the car or van may be driven by other persons. All drivers must meet our standard qualifications as set out in these Terms and Conditions. A daily charge for each additional driver during the rental period may be levied. This charge will be indicated during the booking process.
AGE
The minimum rental age is 22. A young driver surcharge of £32.50 per day will apply to all drivers aged 22-24. Some vehicles and / or products will not be available to drivers under the age of 26 in certain locations. Please contact the local Branch directly if you are under the age of 26 for more details on their local renting policy. Minimum age for Prestige vehicles is 25 or 30 dependent on the vehicle.

Drivers aged 22-24: A young driver surcharge of GBP32.50 per day will apply to all drivers aged 22-25. For rentals starting from Plymouth, Exeter, Taunton, Carmarthan, Pembroke, Aberystwyth and Llanelli the driving licence must have been held for at least 2 years prior to checkout.
CANCELLATION
Prepaid rental

Cancellations are free of charge up to 24 hours before the rental start time. For cancellations made less than 24 hours before the rental start time, the pre-paid rental amount will be refunded minus a cancellation fee in the currency of the pre-payment of €50, £45, 75 CHF, 65 US dollars or 400 Norwegian Kroner.

No refunds will be given if you fail to collect the vehicle on the rental start date and have failed to notify us in writing in advance of this date. Once you have collected your vehicle no refund or partial refund is possible.

Pay on arrival

If you have chosen to pay for the car or van when you come to collect it but your travel plans change then you can cancel your booking free of charge anytime up until two hours before your rental is due to start.

If you lodge your credit or debit card details with us we will guarantee your car or van until close of business on the day your rental is due to start. However, if you do use this facility to guarantee your reservation and you either don`t pick up the car or van on the day or don`t give us two or more hours’ notice to cancel before the rental start time then you agree that we may charge a fee of £45 (or the equivalent in destination country currency) against that credit or debit card to compensate us for having held the car or van for you without any rental transaction ultimately taking place.

DEPOSIT RULES
All rentals, excluding Prestige rentals, are subject to a standard £250 deposit at the time of rental in addition to the appropriate rental charges. If you are a first time customer presenting a UK driving licence and have a foreign address you will be required to pay a deposit of £1000.00 rather than £250.00. All Prestige rentals are subject to a standard £500 deposit at the time of rental in addition to the appropriate rental charges. If you are a first time customer for a Prestige rental presenting a UK driving licence and have a foreign address you will be required to pay a deposit of £2000.00 rather than £500.00. These funds will be Authorised* on all credit cards. These funds will be deducted from debit cards. The funds will be released or refunded, where appropriate, after the rental period, subject to the deduction of any damage or charges. Cheques will be cashed. *Authorised means that the amount is `marked` against the card but not actually charged to it. The Authorisation therefore reduces the cardholder`s available credit as against their approved limit. The amount does not appear on your monthly statement. The payment card used for the deposit must be the same payment card as was used for the prepaid booking rental.
DRIVERS LICENSE
A full and valid driving licence must have been held for a minimum of 12 months. For rentals starting from Plymouth, Exeter, Taunton, Carmarthan, Pembroke, Aberystwyth and Llanelli the driving licence must have been held for a minimum of 2 years prior to picking up the vehicle.

For UK photocard driving licence holders:
With effect from 8 June 2015 the DVLA will cease to issue the paper counterpart to the UK photocard driving licence. From that date it will no longer form part of a UK driving licence. Since the introduction of the UK photocard driving licence in 1998 we have used the paper counterpart to validate the driving record of any UK photocard licence holder wishing to rent a car or van from us in the UK.
After 8 June 2015 there will be the following change to the driver licence information you (or your driver if you are not to be insured to drive the car or van) will need to bring whenever you collect a car or van from us: - the UK driving licence photocard of all drivers will continue to be a requirement on each occasion you rent a car or van from us (irrespective of whether it is a UK or a non-UK rental); and - instead of the paper counterpart previously required we will need you and/or the driver to provide us with the one-time passcode that can be generated using the new DVLA online service “Share Driving Licence”. Please note that Share Driving Licence passcodes are valid for a maximum period of 72 hours so you should generate it immediately before picking up the car or van.

Holders of the old style UK paper licence must also provide a Share Driving Licence passcode together with an additional form of photographic ID which can be a Full Valid Passport, an Armed Forces ID Card or a Police Warrant Card. No other form of identification will be accepted.

To generate a Share Driving Licence passcode the driver will be asked to supply the following details:
- His/her driving licence number - His/her National Insurance number - His/her Postcode

If a driver is unable to obtain a passcode online then s/he should call the DVLA Customer Contact Centre on 0300 083 0013 (Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm). If this is not possible then, provided the driver brings their National Insurance number with them when picking up a vehicle, we can help them try to obtain the passcode by giving them access to Share Driving Licence.

EQUIPMENT
Child Seats:

It`s the law in the UK that all children under three years old must use an appropriate child restraint ("baby seat") when travelling in any vehicle, all children aged three or more years old and up to 135cm (approx 4ft 5in) in height must use an appropriate child restraint ("booster seat") when travelling in a vehicle.

You as the driver are responsible for seat belt wearing and restraint use by children under 14 years.

The penalty for offenders is a £30 fixed penalty notice or a maximum fine of £500 if a case goes to court.

You may hire a baby seat from £11 per day and a booster seat from £4 per day. Ask for details at your local Branch, or alternatively you can add this product to your booking via the `add extras` button when selecting your vehicle.

However, whilst we can supply these seats we won`t be able to fit the seat for your child and this will be your responsibility.

FUEL
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel at start of rental. Renters can choose from 3 re-fuelling options which will be advised at the start of the rental and are briefly described below. Fuel prices are checked and updated weekly according to the national average forecourt price. Fuel used when delivering and/or collecting a rental car or van to and/or from you is the renter`s responsibility.

You can choose to purchase a full tank of fuel at the start their hire and return it without refilling it. Please ask a member of staff for details. No refund will be given for any unused fuel.

Re-fuelling - If the car or van is not returned with a full tank of fuel or the Full Tank Option is not purchased, Europcar will provide a re-fuelling service. Our refueling is charged at national average prices. In addition, there is a service charge of £1.60 per litre. For the current price, please refer to our staff at time of rental.

INSURANCE
Third Party Insurance
Is it included in the rental rate? YesWhat is it? Indemnifies authorised driver(s) and meets minimum UK legal requirements for third party liability.
What are the benefits? Can drive with peace of mind that you are indemnified against any third party liability.
Are there any exclusions? £50m limit applies. Unlimited for Bodily Injury/Death.

Collision Damage Waiver
Reduces your liability from the total cost of the damage (up to the value of the vehicle and including off the road and recovery costs) to the excess amount.
Is it included in the rental rate? No. It must be purchased at the point of collection unless you are a USA or Canadian resident with a credit card issued in your country of residence that provides collision damage waiver cover (a “Stand Liable Customer”)**
Are there any exclusions? Yes. Damage caused to the vehicle hitting a bridge, car park barrier or other overhead object or damage caused by driver negligence.

Theft Waiver
This reduces the renter`s liability from the total cost of the theft, attempted theft or damage as a result of theft or attempted theft (up to the value of the vehicle and including off the road and recovery costs) to the excess amount.
Is it included in the rental rate? No. It must be purchased at the point of collection unless you are a Stand Liable Customer**.
Are there any exclusions? Not covered if all locks and security devices are not deployed when vehicle is unattended or if the you are unable to return the key or damage caused by driver negligence

** Stand Liable Customers have the option to purchase Collision Damage Waiver or Theft Waiver as standalone products at a charge of £12 each per day (£24 per day for both products) for rental of 14 days or less, £10 each per day (£20 per day for both products) for rentals of 15 days or more. Any consumer other than a Stand Liable Customer must purchase Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Waiver at £24 or £20 per day (depending on the length of rental). Please note that we do not accept either personal car insurance policies or any third party waiver products (ie., those that can be purchased online via a Broker or similar trader) Medium Protection Package
Is it included in the rental rate? No
Can be purchased to top up the cover offered by Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Waiver. Reduces the renter`s excess from £1000 to £250 (from £2000 to £500 for Prestige vehicles).

Risk Reduction Cover Plus and /or Super of Mind Cover - available for rentals starting in the UK only

Can be purchased to top up the cover offered by Basic Protection Package and Theft Waiver. Reduces your excess to zero. Only available at 30 Branches in the UK.

Value Cover
Is it included in the rental rate? No
What is it? Cover for tyres and glass only which reduces the renter`s liability for the cost of damage to the windscreens, tyres and other glass down to zero (not required if Medium and Premium covers are purchased).
What are the benefits? Can drive with the reassurance that you will not need to pay for the cost of any damage to the windscreens, tyres and other glass.
Are there any exclusions? Damage caused to any part of the vehicle other than the windscreen, tyres and other glass or damage caused by driver negligence

Personal Accident and Baggage Cover
Is it included in the rental rate? No
What is it? Provides cover against personal injury, death, medical expenses and baggage.
What are the benefits? Can claim if unable to work due to death or permanent disability and for loss of baggage
Are there any exclusions? Please refer to customer information guide which can be requested at time of pick up.
NO-SHOWS

ONE-WAY
One way rentals are permitted between all Branches. One way fees vary and apply to all one way rentals. The fees vary and are included in the quote price during the booking process.
PAYMENT
Credit and Debit Cards Accepted:

American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard, MasterCard, Visa, Visa Debit. We do not accept Switch and Solo or Maestro as methods of payment. Pre-paid are also not accepted.

The person making the prepaid booking must be present at checkout of the vehicle as they will be the named person on the Rental Agreement, anyone else will be an Additional Driver.

For all prepaid bookings you must present the same payment card at the time of checkout.

The payment card used for the deposit must be the same as the card used for the prepaid booking rental.

On 28 day rentals, the deposit and first 28 day charge is Authorised* at check out. At the end of 28 days, a charge is made for those days. You must then visit your local Branch where the original Rental Agreement will be closed and a new Rental Agreement issued. Then a further Authorisation taken for the next period (upto a maximum of 28 days).

In all other cases payment will be charged to the payment card along with the deposit at the end of Rental.

Cash / Cheques Payments:

Are only possible for certain vehicle categories at certain locations.

Refunds :

Cash and cheque deposits will be refunded depending on the condition of the car or van when you return it to us. Cash deposits will be refunded immediately if there are sufficient funds on site. If not a cheque will be sent to the renter you at the address shown on the rental agreement. A cheque refund of the deposit, if appropriate, will be sent by us within 10 working days by second class mail to the address shown on the rental agreement.

Note: Refunds may take up to 10 working days to credit in to your bank account/ credit card account. We will make the refund to the card used for the original payment only.
